Grey day NZ Merlot

Driving home in the grey rain yesterday, I thought some wine was definitely in order.

An excellent red which is widely available and comes from the prestigious region of Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.

The same producers make Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc which is great. Classic stuff!

2008 Oyster Bay Merlot
Hawkes Bay, NZ
Rich juicy fruit, very smooth body with a touch of sweet vanilla/ spice. Altogether well balanced, has structure in the mouth and a lovely long aftertaste.

Bruno

2003 Vendemmia
Brunello di Montalcino
Pietroso

Beautiful bottle of wine from Montalcino in Italy. A lovely ruby red colour fading at the edges. 2003 was a great year in Italy.
An aromatic red fruit and cherry nose with savoury barn hint which is very elegant!
Very smooth, rich liquorice fruit, structured tannins and great length!

What a brilliant Italian wine. It actually reminds me of great Burgundy/ Pinot Noirs but shouldn't be compared. Its the best
Wine I've had all year!
